Event Details & Take Aways
Purpose of Event:

Raise funds for AOA to aid with education programs and cover event costs.

Bring awareness to the alpaca industry, offer a variety of agribusiness and husbandry education seminars, and services offered for AOA members and prospects.

Provide alpaca owners worldwide with standard (visual judging only) and innovative (visual and measured judging) fleece assessment shows.
Personal Contributions to Event:

Assist with set up of conference and fleece judging rooms.

Assist fleece judges in moving, observing, and recording notes then setting up final award displays for viewing.

Organized and managed silent fleece auction for virtual and in-person bidding, with in person display along with online images.

Welcome event participants, provide directions, assist where needed, and aske exit survey questions.
Lessons Learned from the Experience:

Understand the value of having a detailed event plan and playbook to be prepared for any challenges.

The best auction interface allowing for simultaneous bidding without needing additional volunteers to work the auction.

Realizing that having the venue schematics and advanced planning of room layouts prior to event set-up enables volunteers to have clarity of intended plan.
